When Sesame Street created the original numbers game animation years ago, they took us on a journey inside a psychedelic pinball machine used to teach young children how to count to twelve. Its catchy lyrics and hip musical arrangement made the animation an unforgettable educational experience.
In this piece, I wanted to re-capture that nostalgic experience. Only this time, I designed a cleaner, more simplistic aesthetic to the visual elements of the composition. During the design phase, I explored various approaches to recreate the original animation. Instead of recreating the pinball concept of the original piece, I developed an animation that uses the screen size of the composition as “flash cards”, pushing the concept of counting.
